- Messages and media — texts, voice recordings, photos, and videos you send
- Push notification token — to deliver message notifications to your device
We also automatically collect:
- Device type and operating system version
- App usage data and crash reports
- Login timestamps and session data
How We Use It
- To create and manage your account
- To enable real-time messaging between drivers
- To send push notifications for new messages
- To verify your identity via SMS
- To enforce our Terms of Service and safety policies
- To investigate reports of harassment or abuse
- To improve and maintain the app
🔒 Your phone number is never visible to other users. It is only used for account verification and is stored securely.
Who We Share With
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:
- Firebase / Google — our database, authentication, and storage provider
- Expo — our mobile app platform for push notifications
- Law enforcement — if required by law or to protect safety
⚠️ Messages you send are visible to the recipient. Do not share sensitive personal information in chats.
How Long We Keep It
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us. Upon deletion:
- Your profile is removed from our database
- Your messages remain visible to recipients but are anonymized
- Media files are deleted from storage within 30 days

- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and data
- Opt out of push notifications at any time in Settings
- Change your license plate once every 30 days
Children's Privacy
BumperTap is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older and hold a valid driver's license. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us immediately.
Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- Firebase Authentication for secure login
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- Firestore security rules restricting unauthorized access
- Phone verification to prevent fake accounts
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app. Your continued use of BumperTap after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
